Most people don’t fit neatly into a predefined path. Forcing yourself into one may lead to success, but it probably won’t make you happy. I don’t know whether this rant is will make much sense to you, but if you read on, I promise to try to clear it up. You see, sometimes we push ourselves to do more, achieve more and take part in things that we’ve been told are good for us, good for our futures and good for our careers.
But then, suddenly something snaps, almost like one of those ‘aha! moments’ that pop culture has made so famous and you realize you’re stuck in a limbo. Caught between what people feel is a path that best suits you and the realization that they could be wrong. This is the point. If you want to be conventionally successful, to attain wealth and status, you need to choose to continue to follow the plan to the letter or you step back, distance yourself, give it some thought and then finally do something about it.
On the other hand, if you aren’t particularly concerned with wealth or success, you can take your time searching for that perfect niche. Just don’t wait too long to decide. Each moment you deliberate you tend to worry more, probe and question further and doubts and insecurities will come creeping in.
It’s easy for me to look at other people and compare myself to them but I’ve learned that the only way I’m going to be happy is if I follow my own path and my own guidance. Once you step into your own space and are confident enough to follow your heart – no matter what the consequences, I believe one can experience an incredible sense of freedom and liberation. You will no longer be overwhelmed with all the options that are out there, because you know that the only thing you have to do is listen to your heart.
